Value-Adding Processes

As part of our services, Lee Plastics Inc. offers a variety of value-adding processes. The clients we partner with can always expect us to go the extra mile to create optimized molds and make recommendations on parts. Our team has over 100 years of experience creating plastic parts and our machines give us many capabilities to provide value-adding processes to our clients.

Ultrasonic Welding

We have ultrasonic welding capabilities at Lee Plastics Inc. We are able to join plastic pieces together by using high-frequency ultrasonic tools. An ultrasonic tool causes pieces that are pressed together to fuse through acoustic vibrations that create a solid-state weld. Ultrasonic welding is primarily used to join plastic pieces or metal pieces together and can also be used to weld pieces of different materials together.

Heat Staking

Similar to ultrasonic welding, heat staking can bond dissimilar materials together. In heat staking, two pieces are joined together by forcing one piece to expand inside the other. This is done by carving a hole into a piece and creating a stake in the other piece that is inserted, once inserted is heated to cause expansion. The piece is then cooled axially which forms an interference fit between the two pieces.

Pad Printing

Pad printing can transfer a two-dimensional digital image on to a plastic piece. This is often done to print logos or other important images on to pieces. Pad printing can print images on a three-dimensional object without warping the image. This is done by creating a digital offset version of the image that can be applied to the plastic piece based on the shape of the piece. Images can be printed on to flat, round, concave, convex, or angled shapes. Pad printing also can be used to print onto a textured surface.

Hot Stamping

Hot stamping is a different printing method where inks or foils are applied to a plastic part using high temperatures. Similar to pad printing it allows us to transfer images on to plastic parts. Hot stamping is often used for more decorative designs than pad printing.

Adhesive Backing

Depending on product needs, Lee Plastics can apply an adhesive backing to a manufactured plastic piece. There are varieties of adhesive backings that offer various levels of adhesion and are designed to make plastic pieces that can be stuck to flat surfaces.

Part Assembly

Lee Plastics Inc can also handle part assembly before we ship parts to your location. If you have multiple parts designed at our location that can be fitted together and then shipped as single pieces.
